DIRTcar NW I-5 Late Model Tour
As many of you may already be aware, Willamette Speedway will not be running the I-5 Challenge series this year. We find ourselves stretched too thin running a weekly program and a series simultaneously, and each is deserving of our full attention.
The new series is now called the DIRTcar Northwest I-5 Late Model Tour, and is run entirely by DIRTcar.
As with all decisions at Willamette, our major concern is acting in the best interest of our speedway and the drivers who call us their home track. To that end, we have been assured personally by Scott Woodhouse, Series Director of Western AllStars and Chris Morgan, Western Operations Director for DIRTcar of the following:
- Willamette Speedway drivers who do not wish to run the I-5 tour, may run at Willamette on the nights the tour is scheduled for our track. DIRTcar is giving drivers a generous 5 race grace period before you have to join the tour or not be allowed to run a DIRTcar sanctioned event. Simply stated, if you do not race the series, you will not be required to join DIRTcar to run Willamette. (We have 5 races scheduled)
- Further, if you are in compliance with Willamette Speedway rules, you will be allowed to run with the series AT Willamette on DIRTcar nights. Again, simply stated, if you do not choose to run the tour, you will be able to come and race at your home track every Saturday night.
We appreciate Scott and Chris working closely with us to honor our commitment to the drivers who support Willamette on a weekly basis. We encourage all drivers with hopes of running a series do so with DIRTcar, and will of course support their efforts in every way.
We wish DIRTcar the very best in developing their new Series to the full potential we believe exists in the Northwest to cultivate the vast pool of talent right here in our own backyards.
