IMCA Sanctions Modifeds at Cottage Grove, Sunset, Southern Oregon, Williamette and Grays Harbor
Five tracks in the Pacific Northwest are new to sanctioning this season by the International Motor Contest Association.
Based in Vinton, Iowa, the IMCA will provide rules and regulations applied to weekly and designated special events for the Modified division at Cottage Grove, Ore., Speedway, Southern Oregon Speedway in White City, Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, Ore., Williamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., and Grays Harbor Speedway in Elma, Wash.
These are the only tracks in Oregon and Washington where IMCA’s national, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded.
Track champions will be crowned at each venue and receive bonus points (determined by average car counts) which in turn apply toward national and regional standings. A portion of sanction fees received by IMCA from each track is paid to as many as 15 drivers in the form of point fund shares.
Those checks will be presented during the national awards banquet in late November, or mailed from the IMCA home office beginning the following week.
“It’s important for Modified drivers to remember that these are the only five tracks in Oregon and Washington that are sanctioned with IMCA for the upcoming season,” emphasized Jim Stannard, director of track relations for the sanctioning body. “Tracks such as Skagit Speedway can post on their website that they are IMCA sanctioned, but without a signed contract and proof of insurance that is not the case.”
Drivers are required to purchase a competitor’s license to receive points at any IMCA-sanctioned event and become eligible to receive point fund shares.
