Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway hosted racing action on Saturday, July 31st. Five divisions were in attendance, one of which belongs to the Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing program. Classes included Late Models, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and IMCA Sport Compacts.

Bend veteran Darren Coffell was first to the finish line in Late Model action. It is Coffell’s first win of the campaign at Willamette. Incredibly, there has still yet to be a repeat winner in this division. Salem’s B.J. Donofrio scored second over third finishing Mark Thompson of Tigard. Coburg’s Kent Emry and Terry Hall, from Dallas, were fourth and fifth.

For the Super Sports, Steve Moore returned to victory lane after a bit of an absence. From Scio and racing the Donofrio family-owned entry, Moore racked up his third win of the year. Salem driver Greg Heinrich and Lebanon's Chad Slover were second and third. Springfield racer Tim Archer brought his mount home in fourth, while fifth place was credited to Ed Roles.

The Sportsman division witnessed a new enter victory lane. Jeff Rash of Lebanon happily opened up his Willamette winning account. Eugene competitor Greg Schellhorn finished the runner-up while double-duty puller Chad Slover again was third. Steve Piefer, from Corvallis, managed to score fourth, with Trevor Mackey wrapping up the top five finishing order in fifth.

Albany veteran Rod McCombs yet again tamed the field in the Street Stock division. McCombs now has two Street Stock trophies from the Lebanon track. Sam Potter of Monmouth was the second-place runner, with Lebanon’s J.J. Irvine claiming third. Phil Lovvorn, from Albany, and Doug Scott were the rest of the top five.

Kerry Cooper took care of business in the IMCA Sport Compacts. It is Kerry’s first win at Willamette but his second of the year as he won the week before in Cottage Grove. He now has two triumphs in KMJ Performance Oregon State action.

Jack Vicari of Eugene and Dexter’s Rec Eckley Jr. finished behind Cooper in second and third. Bradley Martin, also from Dexter, was fourth with fifth place going to Dayton driver Marissa Gentry.

Willamette Speedway readies for a massive three-night tripleheader to kick off the 2021 Wild West Modified Shootout. Both IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Northern Sport Mods will be racing these three shows. Front Gates open at 4:00 PM, with racing starting at 6:00. Advanced tickets can be purchased through the track website or at the Front Gate on the day of the event. More information can be obtained at the track website or Facebook pages.
