Despite some wet weather in the surrounding areas Willamette Speedway would get the entire program complete on Saturday April 25th. Some great racing would be on tap for the folks in attendance and some new faces would grace victory lane by night's end. Classes competing included the IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, and Street Stocks.

Bricen James of Albany was the car to beat for much of the IMCA Modified feature. The teenager would run a great race in his James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Crocker's Cars #13 GRT but would be overtaken by a late race pass. Fellow Albany driver Dustin Cady would make a bonsai move on lap twenty-three to propel his mount into the lead.

Cady would stay out in front the rest of the way to park his Drager Performance/Frank's Fab & Auto of Brownsville/Susan River Reality/Rock & Cady Ranch #7 GRT in the winner's circle. It would be the second straight win for the team at Willamette as Cady was the winner of the last IMCA Modified event at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval.

B.J. Wild of Redmond managed to finish second in the Trinity Bikes/Timbers Bar & Grill/ThreeSixNine Fab #12 Shaw while Bricen James was third. The balance of the top five would consist of the Mark's Auto Body #27 entry of Mark Carrell in fourth and Albany's Craig Cassell in fifth in his Ester Lee Motel of Lincoln City/Corvallis Seed & Feed/Dr. Mary Harada Breast Cancer Specialist/Debra Herndon Family Nurse Practitioner #25 Rocket by Ruhlman. Springfield's Jake Mayden managed to pick up the victory in the consolation feature in his Embers Bar & Grill/Springfield Tire Factory/T.L. Morgan Motors #5M Dirt Works.

The Super Sport race would be a hotly contested affair with several lead changes and thrilling action. Obtaining the lead late in the main event Brian Smith of Albany would seek his first win of the season. Smith would stay out in front of the field to get the job done and park his Knothole Market/Pratnum Co-Op/Hanson Automotive Machine/James Gang Pizza #99 Rayburn in victory lane for the first time this year.

The Pickett Custom Cabinets #82 Swartz of Gil Pickett of Salem was the runner-up and Randy Barley from Albany ended the night third in his Dennis Automotive & Tires/Snap On Tools #13B Rayburn. Chris Mott of Salem was fourth in his Mott Family Racing #16 GRT followed by the Hair Expressions by Robin/Toledo Dairy Queen #33 Swartz of Toledo's Jordan Wright in fifth.

In the Sportsman main event Tangent driver James Slover was quite fast. Slover, in the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company #25 Shaw, led until lap ten. Sandy Sanders of Junction City would get the lead and pull away from the field. Sanders would keep his Royalty Homes #43 Avenger out in front to win the race and pull off a clean sweep.

James Slover was second followed by the he Jon Inskeep Racing Engines/Les Schwab Tires of Coos Bay #75 Dirt Works, piloted by Dave Foote from Coos Bay, in third. Newberg's Brian Winkler crossed the stripe in fourth in his Flatt Muffler/Doerfler Farms/Extreme Motorsports #88 Rayburn while in fifth was the Wirth Wireless/Hackney Racing #2 Swartz of Glen Hackney of Lebanon.

Gresham teenager Talyn Roberts was having a career best night in the Street Stocks. The young lady in the Big Sky Landscaping #T3 Camaro would be the leader in the first half of the main event. She would lose the lead after her mount would receive a slight push enough for Steve Jorgensen of Albany to get around. Jorgensen, in the Doc's Photos/Ovarian Cancer Awareness #14J Camaro, would win the race marking the first time he has ever won a main event at Willamette.

Arriving just in time to make the start of the feature Lebanon's J.J. Irvine would place his Bullett Motorsports/Crocker's Cars/Bodies By Steve-O #K4 Camaro in second after coming from the back while behind him in third was the Tim's Automotive/Dick Kludt Trucking #28 Malibu of Bill Allison from Dallas. The Marson Transit/Marson Trucking #13H Camaro of Shannon Horn from Molalla was fourth followed by Sandy's Doug Scott in fifth driving the Eric's Frame Shop/what's your sign?/Whistle Stop Bar & Grill #83 Camaro.

Next weekend the historic 1/3-mile facility has two events planned. First Friday May 1st will have the debut of the Karts in the infield track. General admission to the Friday Kart race will be FREE of charge. Pit Passes are $10.00 and Car and Driver fees will be $30.00. The Pit Gate will open up around 4:00 PM and Racing is scheduled to begin around 6:30.

Saturday May 2nd Fight Hunger Night will feature racing action for the big track. Classes on the card include Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks.
